Two new markets incoming!

Big news: Over the next year and a half, The Community Grocer will be delivering not one but two new neighbourhood markets!

We're excited to share that The Community Grocer is a recipient of the The Community Food Relief Program – Coordination Grants, funded by the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund.

With this funding, we’ll support key partners in Frankston North and Port Phillip to deliver fresh food markets built on The Community Grocer model. That means more people will be able to access low-cost, high-quality, and culturally diverse produce at markets close to home, run by local organisations that know their communities best.

We're thrilled to be delivering this work with our partners Port Phillip Community Group and Frankston Social Enterprise & Innovation Hub, among others.

“The Community Grocer model is exemplary in its approach to increasing equity and dignity across communities,” said Zara Lasater, Executive Officer of Frankston Social Enterprise and Innovation Hub. “We look forward to working alongside the community and local partners to establish a vibrant and sustainable fresh food market in Frankston that strengthens connection, supports local families, and improves access to fresh, nourishing food.”

The funding will also allow us to strengthen our procurement network of regenerative growers and improve our Grocer Gift Program systems, and to share both with our partners.

This works builds on the successful pilot of The Community Grocer Werribee, our first partner-delivered market, run by Wyndham Park Community Centre. Launched in mid-2026, the market operates every Tuesday from 8.30am to 12.30pm and now serves up to 60 local residents a week.

With new markets, The Community Grocer continues its work to bring fresh, fair fruit and vegetables to communities across Victoria, strengthening health, connection, and local economies.
